2007-08-20 Bulgaria’s First Supercar Rally Sveti Vlas 2007 Is Over

12 super luxury sports cars participated in Bulgaria’s first Super Car Rally Sveti Vlas 2007 organized by Neptun Motor Sport, Dinevi Group, and SBA Varna.
Marina Dinevi was represented in Sveti Vlas by Ferrari 430, Ferrari 599, Dodge Viper Hennessey, Mercedes CL65 AMG, Aston Martin, Chevrolet Corvette, BMW 630, Maserati, Subaru Impreza, Mercedes SL600, Ford Mustang, and Mercedes CL600.

The ranking of the Supercar Rally Sveti Vlas 2007 was topped by Ivailo Iliev and Kiril Iliev (Subaru Impreza). Yordan Dinev and Vesko Atanasov (Dodge Viper Hennessey) came second. “I am happy that we were able to organize the rally. Plans are to make it a traditional one and attract international teams. I am confident that this will happen next year”, said Yordan Dinev at the awarding ceremony. Third prize went to Christian Popescu and Christian Carlan (Chevrolet Corvette). There were also winners in two subcategories – up to 5,000 cubic centimeters and over 5,000 cubic centimeters. The organizers provided a special award for the only woman in the contest – Diana Stoyanova (Maserati).

The most powerful car in the rally was the Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Dodge Viper driven by Yordan Dinev. It is a limited-edition car, only 24 have been built, and this one is No 17. Inside the car there is a plate saying “Especially for Mr. Yordan Dinev”. It goes from zero to 100 km miles per hour in three seconds and hits a top speed of 410 km per hour.

The Sveti Vlas 2007 Supercar rally was organized for serial sports cars with engines over 3,000 cm3. Limos, jeeps and professional racing cars were not eligible. The route Sveti Vlas – Cape Kaliakra – Sveti Vlas was laid out over open public roads with segment check points.

The race consisted of the following three stages:
Stage І – A closed circuit race of 112 km.
Stage ІІ – A route of 52.9 km plus a ranking test, i.e. a lap of 9 km to be taken in 410 sec. with an average speed of 79 km per hour.
Stage ІІІ – A route of 183 km. and two ranking tests:
- A lap on a closed carting circuit in Varna from standing start to flying finish. Over 2,000 people gathered in Varna to watch the spectacular event.
- A drag racing test from standing start to complete a straight-line distance of 900 meters.
